LEADERSHIP NAMED FOR THE 56th ALL AMERICAN JERSEY SHOW & SALE  

Reynoldsburg, Ohio, January 4, 2008—The team of Jersey breeders who will lead The 56th All American Jersey Show & Sale were announced today by the general chairman for 2008, Scott Wickstrom, Hilmar, Calif.  

An annual production of the American Jersey Cattle Association, the All American is held in conjunction with the North American International Livestock Exposition in Louisville, Ky. More than 100 Jersey breeders and enthusiasts from across the country donate their services to planning and staging the three shows, two sales and youth awards banquet that make up the most exciting weekend of dairy breed promotion in the world.  

James S. Huffard III, Crockett, Va., will chair the Sale Committee, succeeding Craig Rhein, Pine Grove, Penna., who will serve as the 2008 associate general chairman. The 2008 associate chair for the sale committee will be James Van Buskirk of Carleton, Mich.  

Chair of the Open Show Committee will be Kevin Williams, McConnelsville, Ohio. Named associate chair was Charles F. Luchsinger, Syracuse, N.Y.  

Diane Smart of Anna, Ohio, will chair the meeting of the Junior Activities Committee, with Merna Fremstad, Westby, Wis., serving as the associate chair. Also serving on this committee will be the 2007 National Jersey Queen, Rachel White of New Castle, Ind.  

The National Jersey Jug Futurity Committee will be led by Lauren Black, Saluda, S.C. Darlene Williams, McConnelsville, Ohio, is the associate.  

2007 Shows, Sales Set Records  

The 2007 All American was the largest exhibition of registered Jerseys in the world, with 388 outstanding females placed in the open show and 222 in the junior show. It was also the largest purebred show of any species held during the 2007 North American International Livestock Exposition.  

The National Jersey Jug Futurity brought out 40 three-year-old cows, competing for a record purse of $11,890 and a record winner’s share of $2,588.  

Spectators at ringside plus a global audience watching the shows via Internet streaming video saw a display of cattle valued in excess of $2.5 million.  

The 55th All American Sale set a record for sale gross, $579,625 on 109 lots, for an average of $5,137.66. The Pot O’Gold Sale, presented by Cow’s Match® Jersey Blend, smashed all previous records, with the high seller at $7,800 and an average of $4,151.67.
