MADISON , N.J. — February 4, 2011 — Dairy producers now have a new approved protocol available for the synchronization of estrus in lactating dairy cows. FDA approval has been granted exclusively for the concurrent use of LUTALYSE^® (dinoprost tromethamine) Sterile Solution and Eazi-Breed^™ CIDR^® Cattle Insert in dairy and beef breeding programs.

AI synchronization programs can improve the overall reproductive performance of a herd by improving efficiency of heat detection, more timely first service, and a reduction in the variation of calving interval. The on-label protocol for using Eazi-Breed CIDR with LUTALYSE for synchronization in lactating dairy cows is:

1. Administer Eazi-Breed CIDR on Day 0.
2. Remove on Day 7 (for example, if it was inserted on a Monday, remove the next Monday). At the time of removal, administer 5 mL of LUTALYSE intramuscularly.
3. Observe for estrus on Days 9 to 12, and breed on standing heat.

LUTALYSE is the only prostaglandin product approved for the concurrent use with Eazi-Breed CIDR. Pfizer Animal Health remains committed to ensuring producers have leading reproductive management solutions available to improve their herd’s reproductive performance.

Important Safety Information: Do not administer LUTALYSE in pregnant animals unless cessation of pregnancy is desired.
