 Dale Hoover receives National DHIA Distinguished Leadership Award  

San Antonio , TX – Dale Hoover, a former Pennsylvania DHIA and Dairy One Cooperative Inc. president, received the National Dairy Herd Information Association’s (DHIA) H. Victor Joachim Distinguished Leadership Award March 13, in San Antonio , in conjunction with the association’s annual meeting. The H. Victor Joachim Distinguished Leadership Award goes to a DHI dairy producer and/or spouse who has held a leadership position in DHIA or the dairy industry, and rendered outstanding and unselfish service for many years, along with a notable contribution to advancing DHIA in the United States .

            Hoover , Labanon , Pa. , served on the Pennsylvania DHIA board of directors from 1991-2002, with four yeas as president. From 2002-2005, he held the president post at Dairy One. Also, he has chaired the National DHIA Eastern Caucus.

            “Dale is a true gentleman, friend, colleague, mentor and confidant to his family, associations and acquaintances,” stated George Cudoc of Dairy One. “He has always made time for others over himself and regardless of reward. Dale is a humble man who commands respect, regardless of the level of involvement and leaves others with a wish they could know him better.

            The leadership award winner farms in partnership with his son, Matthew, at Caristone Farm LLC. Their farm business includes 269 Holstein cows and cropland where they grow corn, soybeans and alfalfa. Hoover also announces pedigrees at cattle sales and farm dispersals, and works as a licensed dairy cattle appraiser.

            Along with filling leadership roles in the dairy industry, Hoover spent 20 years on the Philhaven Hospital board of directors and five years as a South Annville Township supervisor. For his church – Lebanon Area Evangelical Free Church – he chaired the business and building committee and served on the elder board.

            Hoover has been married to his wife, Charlotte, for 37 years. They have two other children – Angela and Alicia – in addition to their son.

            National DHIA, a trade association for the dairy records industry, serves the best interests of its members and the dairy industry by maintaining the integrity of dairy records and advancing dairy information systems.
