Pfizer Animal Health Veterinarians Lead Esteemed Cattle Veterinary Organizations at Joint Annual Meeting

Saltman and Stokka serve in president roles for two

leading organizations in livestock animal health

NEW YORK (September 7, 2010)— Leading cattle organizations – the American Association of Bovine Practitioners (AABP) and Academy of Veterinary Consultants (AVC) – took advantage of the opportunity to hold one of the most comprehensive scientific programs ever assembled on cattle disease and production.

Pfizer Animal Health’s Roger Saltman, DVM and Gerald Stokka, DVM brought the two groups together at the jointly held AABP’s 43rd Annual Conference and AVC’s 2010 Summer Meeting in Albuquerque, N.M., in August.  Saltman just finished his one-year term as president of AABP at the meeting, and Stokka is current president of AVC.

When Pfizer Animal Health senior veterinarian Gerald Stokka was elected president of the AVC in April 2010, he became the second Pfizer Animal Health veterinarian to be chosen by industry peers to lead a prestigious cattle veterinary organization. He followed the election of Roger Saltman, DVM, group director of U.S. Cattle Veterinary Operations, as president of the AABP.

“Roger and Gerry epitomize Pfizer Animal Health’s dedication to supporting veterinarians, their practices and their profession,” said Clint Lewis, President of U.S. Operations for Pfizer Animal Health. “As the global leader in animal health, it’s important to us that our veterinarians play an appropriate role in helping to support and advance the profession.”

A key component of Pfizer Animal Health’s Commitment to Veterinarians – which includes training and education, research and development, and investment in the future of the veterinary profession – is to support veterinary professionals through participation in industry organizations.

“The fact that representatives from Pfizer Animal Health are directly involved in bringing these two prominent organizations together for the first time speaks to the reputation of our colleagues and the impact of the animal health expertise we have on staff,” said Rob Kelly, Vice President, U.S. Cattle Operations for Pfizer Animal Health. “We’re proud to have both Dr. Saltman and Dr. Stokka on our team, as their work continues to demonstrate our commitment to veterinarians and the cattle industry.”
